Chinese Medicine
What is Chinese Medicine?
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a thousands-of-years-old holistic health system focused on balancing the body's vital energy (Qi) and harmony between Yin and Yang. It treats the body, mind, and emotions as interconnected, using techniques like acupuncture, herbal medicine, dietary therapy, and Qi Gong to prevent or treat illness by improving energy flow.
Key aspects of Traditional Chinese Medicine include:
- Core Philosophy: Health is achieved when Qi flows freely, while stagnation or imbalance leads to disease. It considers the body a microcosm of the universe, influenced by the Five Elements (wood, fire, earth, metal, water).
- Acupuncture: Inserting thin, sterile needles into specific body points to stimulate the nervous system, reduce pain, and clear energy blockages.
- Chinese Herbal Medicine: Using plant, animal, or mineral substances, often in combination, to treat various disorders.
- Other Modalities: Cupping (using suction jars), moxibustion (burning mugwort near skin), and massage (Tui Na).
- Conditions Treated: Often used for chronic pain (back, neck, knee), headaches, digestive, and gynaecological issues.
- Our practitioners, who are AHPRA registered, treat the individual rather than just the symptom.
While considered a complementary medicine in the West, it is a primary healthcare system in many parts of Asia.

Moxibustion
Moxibustion is the process of burning dried mugwort (moxa) on particular points on the body. It plays an important role in heating, stimulating and unblocking important energy points throughout the body
